What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are read back by the website on subsequent visits. Cookies help websites remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and provide basic functionality like keeping you signed in.
Cookies do not contain viruses and cannot execute programmes on your device. You can delete them at any time through your browser settings.
Cookies we use
Essential cookies — always active
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They do not store any personally identifiable information. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as setting cookie preferences.
- Cookie consent record — stores your preference so the banner does not reappear (key:
cookieConsent) - Session stability — maintains basic site session continuity
Analytics cookies — optional
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website — which pages are visited most, where people come from, and how long they spend reading. All data is aggregated and anonymised. We use this to improve the structure and content of the site.
- Page view counts and navigation paths
- Approximate geographic region (country level only)
- Browser and device type
Marketing cookies — optional
We do not currently run advertising campaigns and do not use marketing cookies for ad targeting. If this changes, we will update this policy and request fresh consent before enabling them.
Preference cookies — optional
These cookies remember choices you have made on the site to improve your experience on return visits, such as your preferred language or reading settings.
Third-party cookies
If analytics cookies are enabled, we may use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to collect aggregated usage data. Google Analytics data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We have configured analytics in privacy-respecting mode with IP anonymisation enabled.
We do not embed social media tracking pixels or advertising network scripts on this website.
Cookie duration
- Session cookies — deleted automatically when you close your browser. Used for temporary site functionality.
- Persistent cookies (short) — expire after 30 days. Used for preference storage and consent records.
- Persistent cookies (analytics) — typically expire after 13 months. Used by analytics tools to recognise returning visitors in aggregate.
